This spacious 135 m2 detached house is in the desirable area of Holm on the outskirts of Inverness. Constructed in 1968, The Heathers is a solidly built, well-presented property with substantial, beautifully designed gardens, and an array of solar panels on the roof giving it good ecological viability.
The property is accessed from a tidy front lawn on a large corner site of a short, quiet road. The house opens into a neutrally painted and carpeted hallway featuring dado rails and arches.
The large, soft green living room extends from the front of the property to the open-plan kitchen and dining room beyond. A limestone surround mantelpiece houses a gas fireplace creating its focal point. Letterbox windows high on the north-west wall add to the natural light from two other directions, including that from glazed double sliding barn doors leading to the dining room.
An archway separates the dining room from the kitchen, creating a generous open-plan space. The kitchen door leads to the exterior and overlooks two sides of the garden, giving fantastic views and a cheerful, light-filled ambience. Floor and full-height cabinets are arranged in a practical L-shape and are finished with natural wooden doors and topped with a light worksurface. Benefitting from a generous size, the kitchen also has space around its walls for additional floor and wall cabinets and free-standing furniture.
The ground floor has three bedrooms that are individually decorated. These include a bright and sunny room finished in yellow, and a front-facing bedroom with pretty paper featuring birds on the feature wall. The smallest bedroom has a recessed storage area and a view to the side of the property. This space would equally make a very comfortable home office or study.
The ground floor has an accessible shower room lined with panels, with a large walk-in wet area, WC, and wash hand basin.
A carpeted staircase leads to two large first-floor bedrooms. The principal bedroom has a wide window with a great view, and there is a separate dressing area with hanging space and room for furniture. The dressing room also gives access to one side of the substantial, unlined space in the eaves, providing additional storage. The second bedroom is finished with tongue-and-groove panelling; it also has a dressing area and provides access to the eaves at the opposite end of the house.
The first-floor bathroom is finished in a contemporary style and features a bath, a WC and a large vanity unit with a vessel basin.
A notable feature of this lovely house is its fabulous timber-fenced garden, accessed from the kitchen via a short ramp. This mature garden has been beautifully designed and is full of elegantly clipped shrubs, small trees and herbaceous borders filled with perennials. Sections are discreetly delineated to create separate zones, including open lawns, gravel utility areas, and grassy seating spaces. A single garage is accessible from the garden, and a small timber shed is located on one side.
This is clearly a much-loved property with many elegant features. It is in a very desirable location and close to great schools, employers, and the city centre. Added to its generous size and massive potential makes The Heathers a fantastic home for a family, and early viewing is advised.
