Well-maintained family home with large garden, fabulous peaceful location
Situated on the corner of two quiet roads and within a short walk of Culloden Academy and the renowned Culloden Woods, this pleasant three-bedroom home benefits from a generously sized enclosed garden that surrounds the house on two sides. There is also a block-paved driveway and garage.
Constructed in 1980 and at 90m2, the property is spacious, complemented by exciting layouts that create areas full of character inside and out.
Steps lead to the entrance and into a simply decorated hallway. The living room is double-aspect and open-plan. Decorated with striking wallpaper featuring black and white images of New York, the living room is playful and enjoys much natural light from the south-east. Its good proportions and proximity to the dining area and kitchen make this room great for relaxing with friends and family.
Accessed straight from the living room and with a door leading to the garden, the open-plan dining room and kitchen are well-arranged spaces offering a pleasant link between the living room, kitchen, and garden.
The kitchen is arranged in a U-shaped with a good view of the garden, providing a considerable amount of storage area on all sides due to its well-planned wall and floor cabinet arrangement. These are topped with a dark work surface, white sink, and striking black metro tiles, resulting in a clean-lined, modern-looking kitchen.
The principal bedroom is on the ground floor. With built-in clothes hanging and storage space and a view to the front of the property, the room is comfortably sized and filled with natural light. The en-suite shower room is spacious and finished with smart dark tiles in the shower cubicle. The room is fitted with white sanitary ware, including a WC, a wash hand basin set in a vanity unit, and a stylish monobloc tap with capstan handles.
Finished with large neutral-hued tiles complemented by mosaics, the family bathroom has an elegant vessel basin on a stand, a WC, and a bath with a shower over it; there is also shelving for linen storage.
A dark grey carpeted staircase sweeps upstairs, opening onto a small landing and a handy cloakroom with a wash-hand basin and WC. The two first-floor bedrooms are spacious, with coombed ceilings and skylights; both have storage. One room has a generously sized adjoining ante-room with a skylight. This space has the potential for many uses, such as a nursery, playroom, walk-in dressing space, or home office.
The garden is accessible from the dining area, and opens onto a raised terrace; a short flight of steps lead down to the rear garden, which features a drying green and herbaceous borders and a paved patio area that is partially covered. This attractive, welcoming garden is well-arranged for entertainment and play.
17 Ferntower Avenue is a pleasant and comfortable home that offers plenty of room and points of interest in its layout and use of space. Its excellent location and charming features make it a delightful and attractive family home.
About Culloden
At just four miles from the centre of Inverness and five miles from open countryside, Culloden has the benefits of both urban and rural living. The Culloden area is large, extending south from the A96 as far as Drumossie Moor, the site of the famous Battle of Culloden.
Technically a village, Culloden is unique for its mix of property styles, from country houses, tied cottages, local authority housing, architect-designed homes, and new developments that offer blended accommodation, from affordable housing to strikingly contemporary apartments. This diversity creates a welcoming, inclusive community, further enhanced by a high level of services and facilities within a relatively short distance, given its comparatively small population of about 3,800.
Culloden is renowned for its sensitive handling of the Battle of Culloden in 1746; the National Trust’s Visitor Centre is one of the most atmospheric sites in the country, attracting visitors from around the world. But Culloden is rich with many other areas of interest: Culloden Woods is an ancient site popular with walkers and riders and features a Clutie Well and a marvellous Gruffalo Walk popular with families.
There are several primary schools, plus a large secondary school, which is earmarked for a complete renovation, a medical centre, dentists, and a leisure centre with a swimming pool. Several places of worship are nearby, and independent shops, bars, and eateries, including award-winning Harry Gow’s head office, are all popular.
With its proximity to Inverness, Nairn, the Scottish School of Forestry, Inverness Campus and Inverness Retail Park, Culloden is an excellent place for commuters and families, making it a great place to live, work, and visit.
