Property Description

With its envious position right near the waterfront in Lochcarron, this is a home that immediately stands out for its charm and character. The frontage tells you a lot before you even step inside with its mix of traditional stonework and smooth white render. Chimney stacks rise at either end, adding to that classic Highland look, while the front door sits beneath a small timber porch with decorative detailing that gives it a welcoming feel. Low walls and planting sit just in front, softening the edge between the house and the street.
As you step inside you’re straight into the sitting room, and it sets the tone well. It’s a long room running across the front of the house, with two wide windows either side of the front door bringing in daylight. The walls are finished in warm cream tones, with wooden flooring underfoot and ceiling spotlights above. At the centre, a wood burning stove sits within a large stone surround, giving a solid focal point and a real sense of warmth. One staircase to the first floor rises from here, keeping everything connected and easy to move through.
Beyond the staircase, the space opens into the utility areas. There’s a smaller study area, with additional cabinets and room for appliances beneath the counter, before leading into a larger utility space. This second area has more storage, a large farmhouse sink and a built-in cupboard, with walls painted in a bright yellow that lifts the space. Just off this area is a compact WC, with a toilet neatly positioned for daily use. The back door from here leads directly out to the rear garden too.
On the other side of the house, through the sitting room, is the dining kitchen area. With its warm terracotta tiled flooring, it continues the traditional feel, with solid wooden worktops, a large white farmhouse sink and a built-in oven with induction hob above. The walls are a clean neutral colour, letting the natural materials stand out. The dining area sits beyond, where a fireplace with a wooden mantel houses a multifuel stove, adding another focal point. Two windows look out to the front while the wooden flooring continues through. A second staircase rises from here to the first floor which is split into sections.
From the staircase in the sitting room, the first landing leads to bedroom one and the main bathroom. Bedroom one is a double with a sloping ceiling, finished in neutral (white) tones. A dormer window looks out to the front with a heater below. There’s also a walk-in wardrobe (dressing room) , adding useful storage without impacting the main space.
The bathroom on this landing is one of those rooms you fall in love with straight away. A stylish freestanding roll top bath sits right in the middle, and it naturally draws your eye. Off to one side, there’s a separate corner shower giving you both options, whether you have time to relax or you’re getting ready in a hurry. A dormer window brings in soft natural light, which lifts the whole room. Decor wise, the lower walls are finished with timber panelling painted in soft tones, which gives it a bit of depth and texture, while underfoot the painted floorboards keep everything feeling light and consistent.
From the second staircase leading from the kitchen dining area, the other landing leads to two further bedrooms and a shower room. Both bedrooms have sloping ceilings and dormer windows to the front, bringing in light and offering views out across the water and toward the hills beyond. They have light coloured carpets and neutral painted walls, making them a great blank space to be customised.
The shower room here includes a corner cubicle, a toilet and a sink set on a storage unit. The lower walls are timber lined and painted in a light tone, with a rooflight above bringing in additional light. The flooring is a light grey tile effect vinyl.
Heating for the home is provided by electric off-peak storage heaters, with additional instant electric heaters where needed. The two stoves, one in the sitting room and one in the dining room, add another layer of warmth and character, especially through the colder months.
Outside, the garden(s) sits to the rear. The ground rises up, with steps leading to a sloping lawn with areas for planting and growing all around. As you move higher up the garden, the view opens out, giving a clear outlook over the roofline toward the water and the hills beyond.
This is a home with real presence and personality, one that blends its original character with practical living space across both floors. It suits someone who appreciates that sense of history, but still wants rooms that work for modern life.
It could also suit someone looking for a lifestyle change as the property could easily be divided into two giving comfortable owners accommodation and a letting option. Alternatively, the property could be converted back into two separate dwellings, subject to the appropriate permissions.
