New To The Market

Glenshee on Station Road, Golspie, is a large traditional stone built home that’s been used as a guest house. Five of the bedrooms have their own en-suite shower room, with a separate shower room serving the remaining bedroom, while two living rooms, a large kitchen, utility and conservatory give you plenty of additional space. Outside, there’s a large gravel driveway, lawn and useful storage.
A large gravel driveway spreads across the front of the home and continues around the side, giving you parking space for multiple cars, while the lawn sits behind a low stone boundary alongside.
Inside, the entrance hallway has a staircase which rises from here, with a red, green and navy tartan carpet continuing up to the first floor landing. A white patterned wallpaper and white woodwork keep the hallway fresh, with a radiator positioned beside the stairs.
The first lounge has a simple grey and white colour scheme, with one dark charcoal coloured wall creating a strong backdrop for the black wood burning stove. It sits within a deep opening beneath a thick timber mantel, with a black hearth below. An arched alcove beside the fireplace has built-in shelving, while a large window occupies much of the opposite side of the room. Dark grey carpet runs underfoot, tying the colour scheme together.
There is also a second living room with bolder decoration. A red and grey patterned floral wallpaper covers the walls with a deep red carpet below. The fireplace takes centre stage on one side with a dark timber surround that’s got carved detailing and glossy dark tiles, with floral tile panels on either side of the gas fire itself. A built-in shelving alcove sits alongside, while a tall window brings daylight into the room. It is a generous room with plenty of floor space for sofas and additional furniture.
Leading from here is the conservatory, giving the house another place to sit or dine. Windows wrap around three sides beneath a pitched roof supported by exposed timber beams, with grey timber panelling running around the lower walls. The internal wall retains the exposed stonework of the original house, adding plenty of character to the newer timber structure. The room is long enough for a full family dining table with space left for extra seating. This is used as a dining room for visitors to the guest house.
The kitchen is another large room and has glossy white cabinets arranged around three sides beneath thin dark worktops. A central island gives you more space for storage on one side, and space for seating on the other. There’s a wide range style cooker beneath a black extractor hood, with space and plumbing in place for laundry appliances too. Two windows and a glazed door sit together at the far end of the room.
A separate utility space adds another useful working area. Similar gloss white cabinets sit beneath grey worktops, with a sink positioned beneath the window. There is a tall cupboard for larger items as well as a long stretch of clear counter space, giving you somewhere away from the kitchen for everyday household jobs and additional storage.
Bedrooms five and six are both on the ground floor. Bedroom five is a comfortable double room with a grey tartan feature wall, light coloured walls elsewhere and a dark carpet underfoot. A window has a radiator directly below it, while a built-in cupboard with double white doors provides storage for the room. Its en-suite shower room is a long rectangular space with the shower enclosure at the far end. A white basin sits below the window, with the toilet further along the opposite side and a radiator fitted against the wall.
Bedroom six is another double with light grey walls and a full grey checked feature wall. A window sits above the radiator, while the room has enough space for a double bed with additional furniture. The en-suite has striking brick effect wallpaper above glossy white lower panels. A white basin is set into a storage vanity beneath a large mirror, with a tall chrome heated towel rail alongside. The glazed shower enclosure is opposite, completing the well laid out shower room.
Upstairs, you’ll find four further bedrooms and a shower room. Bedroom one is a double room with grey tartan wallpaper that continues across an angled section of the ceiling created by the roofline. The remaining walls are a light colour, while tartan carpet runs underfoot. A deep dormer window sits within a white panelled dormer with a radiator directly beneath it. Its en-suite makes good use of the roof shape, with grey rectangular tiles running around much of the room and a Velux rooflight bringing daylight in from above. A glazed shower enclosure sits at one end, with a white pedestal basin and toilet fitted further along.
Bedroom two has one of the strongest roof shapes upstairs. Grey tartan wallpaper runs across the wall behind the bed and continues up the sloping sections of ceiling, with a white beam cutting through the centre. A deep set window sits to one side with a radiator below, while the dark tartan carpet continues the pattern underfoot.
A separate shower room sits off the landing, serving this room. The toilet is positioned beneath the window at the far end, with grey storage cabinets and a white basin along one side. There’s a square white framed shower cubicle fitted, while dark flooring and a chrome heated towel rail complete the space.
The third bedroom has another deep dormer window, again framed by white panelled walls with a radiator beneath. Grey tartan wallpaper covers one wall with neutral coloured walls elsewhere. Its en-suite has a white toilet alongside a glazed shower enclosure, where dark marble effect panels line the shower walls. The basin sits on top of a small white cabinet, backed by the same grey tartan pattern used in the bedroom.
The fourth and final bedroom is another generous double with a wide window set into a deep dormer space. The room has a grey tartan carpet, with matching tartan wallpaper across one wall. The en-suite contains a white toilet and pedestal basin beneath a wall mirror. A separate glazed shower enclosure sits to one side, with dark marble effect panels creating a strong backdrop inside the cubicle.
Outside, the gravel driveway gives you an enviable amount of parking space directly in front of the house, continuing down the side towards the rear. The front lawn takes up a large section of the plot, enclosed along the roadside by a low stone wall. To the rear and side are further patio areas along with covered storage, a corrugated roofed outbuilding and a separate timber log shelter, giving plenty of space for garden equipment and outdoor storage.
With six bedrooms and plenty of space both inside and out, Glenshee would make a great home for a large family or anyone looking to run a guest house as a business. Given its stunning location and beautiful condition, it’s bound to get a lot of interest, so contact Hamish Homes now to arrange your private viewing.
